Discussion Questions:
1. Describe a time when something small someone did had a positive impact on your life.
Read Matthew 13:31-33
He (Jesus) told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all your seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches." He told them still another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into a large amount of flour until it worked all through the dough."
2. What two items does Jesus use as examples in this passage? What are the common
elements between the two?
3. How does each item overcome its “smallness” to exert influence?
4. What principles about life and influence could you gather from this passage?
5. How could these principles apply to the influence people have in our culture? In their families? In their places of work? In leadership in the community?
6. What area of your life could benefit from applying these principles? What might your life look like if you did?
