T. C. Cherry is a place where children are loved, where the commitment to children is lived out everyday, and where there is an authentic sense of community that pervades the school and the surrounding neighborhood. This is also a place of significant need with two-thirds of the T. C. Cherry students qualifying for free or reduced lunch. Broadway has made a commitment to partner with T. C. Cherry to minister to the students and their families and to provide support and encouragement to the teachers and staff.

In the fall of 2007 we launched a partnership with T. C. Cherry to help meet the needs that have been identified by the T. C. Cherry parents and staff. As we enter the third year of that partnership, Broadway will work closely with Principal Judy Whitson and Resource Director Jennifer Shoemake to continue our efforts in the community.

Mentor a child: It can be as simple as having lunch with a child, helping with a homework assignment, hearing about his or her day, or sharing ice cream after school. Time commitment: one hour per week.
One Hour/Once a Month: Assist teachers and administrative staff by helping out with various classroom and office tasks. Time commitment: One hour during school once a month.
Tutor (homework lab): Assist 4th/5th grade students in the morning homework lab that occurs Monday-Friday, 7:15 to 7:55. Time commitment: 40 minutes on rotating basis.
Special Events Assistant: Assist 4 to 6 times per year with classroom parties, field trips, and school events. Time commitment: As available.
Supplies & Field trips: You can donate $15 to sponsor a child for a field trip or give a gift card from local retailers for emergency supplies any time throughout the school year. Download 2009 T.C. Cherry Supplies Drive List
